6.7 Lean improvement cycle

 

  • Value: Specify value from the perspective of the end customer: a specific product with specific capabilities, specific price and time.
  • Value Stream: Identify the value stream and eliminate the waste (in activities, processes, and policies):
    • Identify all the steps that creates value
    • Eliminate all the steps do not create value.
  • Flow: Flow products and service smoothly toward the customer.
    • No waiting, no downtime, or waste within or between the steps.
  • Pull: Let the customer demand pull value from the next upstream activity.
    • Deliver only when the customer wants it.
  • Perfection: Pursue perfection through continuous improvement.
    • Remove the root causes of poor quality, zero defects.
