Preparations before departure

Please prepare your laptops with all the necessary software installed and all the downloadable data downloaded. For this please follow the links below!

For the lab on Monday afternoon:
To prepare your laptop for the first day's lab session, please follow the steps described here.

For the lab on Tuesday afternoon:
Please download and install the following packages and softwares on your laptop:
  • The 2D-3D data package prepared by i3Mainz for the lab session should be readily downloaded on your device, from this link. (~3GB!) (You will need an archive software like WinRAR to extract the files). Zip archives are also available: code and datasets. The Matlab source code is also available in the package.
  • Matlab: We developed our algorithm using Matlab R2011b, but you can run the code on any newer version, and possibly some older releases as well.
  • Meshlab: for viewing, pre-processing, and segmenting 3D pointclouds. Download the latest version from here
  • Gimp: for 2D image segmentation. The latest version can be downloaded from here
  • A fast image viewer software of your choice, eg. IrfanView
For eventual data exchanges please bring a USB stick, and it is also recommended to have an external mouse.

During the Lab session on Tuesday please try to follow the steps descriped in this file.
