V-Pollock is a volumetric drawing pad. It allows users to draw images by simply moving their finger in a predefined space volume in front of a kinetic sensor. The software has the functionality of any basic painting tool, but instead of using a mouse or physical drawing pad, it uses a laser sensor to determine the location of your finger and translates the information into drawing on a pane. One of the most interesting features of the V- Pollock is the dynamically adjustable stroke thickness, which can be adjusted simply by moving your finger orthogonally to the plane defining the drawing pad. Such implementation allows for better styling during the creative process, saves time and leaves a continuous and elegant trace on your drawings.
The V-Pollock is based on the XBOX 360 kinect technology which is more than just a kinetic sensor. The device has a camera and takes audio input from the user. In order to make the most of the device's functionality, we have also implemented a sound recognition system that allows the user to access the application's menu and navigate through the different options available., In addition to spech recognition , the V-Pollock has gesture recognition software that allowes the user to access much of the functionality of the device by using body gestures that serve as shortcuts to the different functions. The V-Pollock is a fun and educational tool that the whole family can enjoy.
