ART-Szeged: Symbian C++ Front-End for ART Reverse-Architecting Tool

symbian.jpg

ART-Szeged was a project between the Nokia Research Center and the University of Szeged, Hungary. The objective of ART-Szeged was:

  • To study the source code analysis techniques that can effectively support the re-construction of system architecture models.
  • To develop the front-end of ART reverse-architecting tool that can extract more accurate and reliable facts from Symbian C++ source code than the current code analysis tools.

TE-Szeged: Reverse Engineering and Monitoring System

TE-Szeged was a project between the Nokia Research Center and the University of Szeged, Hungary. FrontEndART Software Ltd. was also involved in the project as a subcontractor of the university.

The project was the continuation of the ART-Szeged project whose main outcome had been the customization of the source code analysis tool chain of FrontEndART (Columbus) for the architecture reconstruction of Symbian Series60 version 2.6 source code. The objectives of TE-Szeged were:

  • To provide tool support for reverse engineering, quality monitoring based on software metrics and for architecture reconstruction for the Nokia software systems written in C/C++.
  • To adapt the Columbus source code analysis tool chain towards handling the Series60 version 3.0 of the platform. This also includes customizing the FrontEndART Monitor tool.
  • To prepare a customized Columbus tool chain prototype for the analysis of Nokia Open Source software. Our focus was on the maemo.org platform.
