Title of the lecture: Sampling
Keywords: digital domain, signal processing, MRI
Summary: Nowadays, almost all analog signals from various application domains are processed digitally. This makes the conversion of an analog signal to a digital representation indispensable.

When performing this conversion, however, it is key to be able to correctly represent and reproduce the analog signal without inducing signal loss. A standard sampling procedure will be discussed (linked to the Nyquist theorem). Next, the consequences of undersampling will be explained. Finally, an example will be developed in which undersampling is exploited to speed up an MRI scan without loss of image quality.
