Keywords: X-ray tomography, Liquid foams, phase contrast
Summary: Complex cellular materials are found all around us. They are important for the development of advanced light-weight materials, but also critical for providing the best texture in food products. It is usually difficult to fully understand the relationship between their complex structure and function. One of the few analytical tools that show high potential to achieve this, is X-ray tomographic microscopy. The high spatial and temporal resolution of X-ray tomography can reveal changes in the microstructure of these complex materials in-situ in the relevant environmental conditions. In my lecture I will show, how the rich, four dimensional tomographic datasets can be quantified to give insight into basic physical properties but also direct impact to industrial processes. Part of the lecture will also provide a tutorial of using our newly developed toolbox, FoamQuant.readthedocs.io.
