As a result, the digitized artworks images exhibit a series of defects. Whereas scientific methods were applied to the analysis and restoration of the priceless artworks for many decades, over recent years there has been an encouragement for the development of virtual artworks restoration tools, many of them using image processing techniques. The course explores a series of tools for defect detection and virtual restoration of digitized artwork images, and illustrate their application.
