Title of the lecture: From Signal to Insight: An Introduction to Neuroimaging Methods
Keywords: magnetic resonance imaging, diffusion tensor imaging, functional magnetic resonance imaging
Summary: This lecture provides an overview of classical neuroimaging techniques, focusing on the processing and analysis of structural and functional MRI data. Starting with the basic principles of MRI acquisition, we will explore key preprocessing steps including registration, skull stripping, and denoising. The session will cover volumetric analysis of the brain and subcortical brain structures, grey and white matter segmentation, as well as lesion detection and quantification. Furthermore, we will introduce the processing pipelines for functional MRI (fMRI) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) data. The aim is to provide a practical understanding of how raw MR data are transformed into clinically and scientifically meaningful metrics.
