Welcome to the 11th Summer School on Image Processing

This year's Summer School will be held between July 3-12 2003, in Timişoara, Romania . SSIP is organised annually for graduate and PhD students interested in image processing. Students are invited to participate from all over the world. The language of the School is English.

SSIP 2003 is organised by the Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Mathematics and CS from the West University of Timişoara, Romania.

Registration is required. Knowledge of basics of image processing and a reasonable command of English are assumed. Please provide us with a few details about yourself and your institution, so that we can plan for the attendance and make arrangements for accommodation. We reserve the right to select among the applicants based on their experience in image processing.

The final registration deadline is June 15, 2003. You are advised to register as soon as possible. The number of participants will be limited. The Organisers cannot guarantee accommodation for those who register too late.

There is no participation fee. You have to bear the travel costs to and from Timişoara as well as the cost for daily living (e.g., food). The Organisers have no funds to cover these costs.

Accommodation for the duration of the Summer School will be provided in one of the University's dormitories. Those who request accommodation will have to pay upon arrival an accommodation fee to partially cover the cost of accommodation in a dormitory. Due to sponsorship by the West University, the fee can be waived upon motivated request. Consult the conditions of accommodation before registering.

A well established tradition of SSIP is that in addition to the morning lectures on a wide range of topics from image processing, in the afternoons, students work in teams and solve project assigments. On the last full day of the Summer School, teams present their results to fellow participants and an evaluation committee (selected from lecturers). The best project works are awarded by prizes.

Students will receive a certificate of attending the Summer School and passing the exam. This Summer School is accepted as a special PhD course by several Universities.

It is also a tradition of SSIP that on the last full day, there is a special session where students may present their own work (not the Summer School project) to the others.

The  program will be published on the site as soon as it is available. Also, please visit the web pages of SSIP from previous years.

Should you have any questions or comments, do not hesitate to contact the organisers.

We hope to see you at SSIP 2003 in Timişoara.
