Online PhD defenses

This page contains information on how to join our online PhD defense video conferences. The actual login information will be published only 15 minutes before a defense begins. Please refresh this page in your browser if the information does not appear.

The University of Szeged (USZ) will not record the video or audio stream during a defense. However, since the defense is public, the USZ cannot guarantee that such a recording will not be made by participants not representing the USZ. By clicking the link of the video conference, and thereby joining the conference, you agree to these terms and conditions.

The defense video conference can be joined through a Skype “Meet Now” URL. It will be possible to join the conference call for everyone without any restrictions. The exact procedure depends on the operating system and Skype client. The link is supposed to work even without a Skype account, but we recommend creating one.

In case the Skype service is unavailable, or the quality is unacceptable, the head of the defense committee may decide to use the backup solution. In this case, this will be the Jitsi video conferencing tool. Joining is possible through a URL, no login required. Jitsi works within a web browser, Chrome is recommended but other browsers might work too. If the Skype conference is down, try the Jitsi link: https://meet.jit.si/Szabo_Zoltan_doktori_vedese
