MQTT is the de facto Internet of Things protocol these days. Connected cars, manufacturing systems, the logistics industry, the military, enterprise chat applications and several smartphone apps use this technology. The standardization of the 5th version of the protocol in 2019 shows great interest among major IoT platform providers and makes MQTT even more performant and scalable. It is a lightweight and open protocol which has become the most preferred way for connecting things (or machines) to the internet.

In this seminar, I will illustrate the capabilities of the protocol with an interactive demo and I will talk about the protocol itself focusing on the interesting parts with some technical details. I will also mention some widely used libraries that make developing an IoT application considerably easier and I will also give details about the demo and the used components.
